KELLSWATER REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
What We Believe
We are grounded upon the conviction that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, by which we are instructed what man must believe concerning God, and what duty God requires of man.
We furthermore believe that in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Catechisms there is an accurate systematic presentation of the teaching of Holy Scripture.
IN BRIEF THE BIBLE TEACHES:
God is spirit: infinite, eternal and unchangeable. In his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.
There are three Persons in the Godhead – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. Matthew 28:19
Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. 1Corinthians 10.31
Jesus Christ is Lord of all life, the King and Foundation Stone of the Church, the only Mediator between God and men. Hebrews 1:3 1Timothy 2:5
Worship is to be regulated by the express commands of the Bible alone. The Book of Psalms is divinely appointed for praise in worship, to the exclusion of all songs and hymns of merely human composition. There is no warrant in New Testament worship for instrumental accompaniment in congregational singing. Matthew 15: 9, Colossians 3:16
Everyone is born an enemy of God and has broken His Law. As such we are all subject to the wrath of God and the punishment of death, both in this life and the life to come. Ephesians 2:3
Jesus Christ was crucified and rose again as a substitute for elect sinners. Only he can save men from this punishment and provide eternal life. John 10:11, 2Corinthians 5:19,21
Salvation is not of works but of God’s free gift, received by turning away from sin and trusting in Christ as both Saviour and Lord. Even the faith necessary for salvation is itself the gift of God lest any man should boast. Romans 5:1,2, Ephesians 2:8
It is the duty and joy of Christians to live a life of holiness which brings glory to God and without which he cannot see him. Matthew 5:8, Hebrews 12:14
Jesus Christ is the King of all nations and should be and will be acknowledged as such by all people. Psalm 2, Ephesians 1:20-22
He is coming back to judge this world in righteousness and to appoint men their eternal portion either in heaven or hell. Acts 17:31, Matthew 25: 31-46.
He will destroy this world in fire and create a new heaven and a new earth. 2Peter 3: 10, Revelation 21:1
